Draksharishtam is a liquid Ayurvedic medicine, used mainly in the treatment of respiratory and intestinal disorders. Draksha refers to Raisin (Dry grapes), which is the main ingredient of this product. Draksharisht ?contains 5 ? 10 % of self generated alcohol in it. This self generated alcohol and the water present in the product acts as a media to deliver water and alcohol soluble the active herbal components to the body.

Draksharishta is helpful in disorders related to digestion, respiration, and strength. It has similar benefits as Drakshasava has. Draksharishta preserves the strength and improves the appetite.

Draksharishta stimulates the appetite and helps to digest the food. It is mainly beneficial when the patient has decreased the desire to eat. It improves the desire to eat, makes a person feel hungry and helps in the management of loss of appetite as well as anorexia nervosa.

Physical Weakness

Draksharishta has alterative action, so it helps to restore the optimum health. It increases endurance and improves physical strength. It can be used after fever or other diseases in which patient has debility and feel exhaustion.

Constipation

Draksha in Draksharishta has mild laxative action. This formulation also stimulates the liver to release the bile into the intestine, which induces peristaltic movements and eases in bowel movement.

Dosage For Draksharishta

12 ? 24 ml. one or two times a day, usually advised after food.
If needed, it can be mixed with equal quantity of water.

Safe for kids

It is safe to use this medicine in lower dose, in children above 5 years of age.

Pregnancy and lactation

During pregnancy, it is best to avoid this / take this only under medical supervision.
During lactation period, it can be taken in lower doses, based on doctor?s advice.

Side effects of Draksharishta

Draksharishta is prepared from natural herbal ingredients only. These herbs are safe to consume even for a prolonged duration. Since most of the conditions that can be treated using Draksharishta are chronic in nature, the treatment too needs to be taken for a longer duration. The natural and chemical-free content of this medicine allows the patients to use it for 2 weeks to 4 months without worrying about the side effects. In some cases, patients may develop mild gastric irritation. However, this symptom occurs only when the medicine is taken in a very high dose. Since the effect of this medication on the foetus is not fully known when pregnant women use it, they should seek an advice of a physician before taking this medicine. Lactating mothers can use it in lower doses after consulting a doctor. This medicine is safe for the children above 5 years of age, when used in lower doses.
